Our Vision
A world where the causes of autism are understood fully, where people with
autism have their needs recognised and supported, so that they can live their
lives to their full potential and enjoy the same rights and opportunities as
everyone else, within a tolerant and informed society.
Our Mission
The National Autistic Society (NAS) exists to champion the rights and interest
of all people with autism to ensure that they and their families receive
quality services appropriate to their needs.
Who we are
• The largest organisation for people with autistic spectrum disorders
in the world.
• The UK’s leading authority on autism, spearheading initiatives
and providing a strong voice for autism.
• Our head office is based in London and regional offices in Nottingham,
Bristol and Glasgow.
• Supported by a dedicated team of 2,000 staff, 12,000 members and 700
unpaid volunteers.

The NAS runs a programme of support services which help over 70,000 people
with autism. These include 6 autism specific schools and 18 adult educational
centres, a national helpline, a pre-school early intervention programme and
post diagnosis programme for parents, volunteer run respite care for families,
a diagnosis and assessment centre, an Advocacy for Education service helping
parents to access suitable education for their autistic child and a supported
employment scheme called Prospects.
